Guasha massage is an ancient Chinese healing technique that is used for various pathological conditions. The literal translation of the names means 'scraping' the disease: from 'gua' - scraping and 'sha' - disease, scratches, a kind of rash on the skin. Different spellings are also used - Guasha or Gua Sha. Guasha massage uses the theory of meridians from Chinese medicine. They are the pathways along which Chi energy circulates in our body. Therefore, the massage movements are usually performed in one direction, and the movement is repeated many times. The neck and back areas are most often treated, looking for acupuncture points. Meridians are symmetrically located in pairs in the body and have a complex network of branches along which biologically active points are located. The direction of movement along the meridians is always from top to bottom - in the direction of blood circulation.
